The Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (PreCID) 2026 is envisioned as a national platform that brings together researchers, students, policymakers, and industry leaders to collaboratively advance the prevention and control of infectious diseases. PreCID represents a collective effort to advance the prevention and control of infectious diseases through scientific collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
The 2026 edition of PreCID is dedicated to Insect Vectors, bringing together experts, researchers, students, policymakers, industry partners, and stakeholders to explore the challenges and opportunities associated with vector-borne diseases affecting humans, livestock, and plants.
Infectious diseases transmitted by insect vectors continue to pose significant threats to public health, food security, agricultural productivity, livestock health, and economic development. While considerable progress has been made in understanding and managing individual vector systems, research and intervention efforts are often conducted within disciplinary boundaries such as medical entomology, veterinary entomology, and agricultural pest management and are frequently studied and managed separately, despite sharing common biological, ecological, technological, and policy-related challenges.
PreCID 2026 seeks to bridge these gaps by fostering a holistic and interdisciplinary understanding of vector systems. The conference will provide a unique platform for participants to learn from advances across plant, veterinary, and human health domains and identify common strategies that can accelerate surveillance, diagnostics, management, and public engagement efforts. By promoting cross-sector dialogue, the conference aims to encourage the exchange of ideas, methodologies, technologies, and best practices that can be adapted across different vector systems.
We are delighted to have the ICMR National Institute of Malaria Research, ICMR National Institute for Vector Control Research, ICAR-National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology & Disease Informatics and ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources as our Knowledge Partners, strengthening this national platform for scientific collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue.

Discussions will encompass a wide range of vectors including mosquitoes, sandflies, biting midges, tsetse flies, horse flies, fleas, lice, aphids, whiteflies, leafhoppers, thrips, and other economically and medically important arthropods.
Through keynote lectures, expert talks, panel discussions, poster presentations, and networking opportunities, PreCID 2026 aims to build an integrated community committed to advancing vector research and developing sustainable solutions for healthier people, animals, and plants to create a more connected and collaborative approach to vector control and infectious disease prevention.
