Sewage surveillance shows consistent COVID positivity in 13 out of 28 STPs in Bengaluru

Our efforts on the environmental surveillance of COVID19 pandemic in Bengaluru city using wastewater was covered via an article by The Hindu Bengaluru. As of now there is no need to panic as the viral load in most STPs is below the threshold.

This weekly sewage surveillance of SARSCoV2 in the STP’s of Bengaluru city is carried out by TIGS, National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore, Biome Environmental trust in collaboration with the Chairman, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board and the local municipality, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for more than an year now.
