AMR Research Conference 2025
21 – 22 August
Bengaluru
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites change over time and no longer respond to medicines making infections harder to treat and increasing the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death. As a result, the medicines become ineffective, and infections persist in the body. Antimicrobial resistance threatens the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections caused by bacteria, parasites, viruses and fungi.
Antimicrobial Resistance among bacterial pathogens is reaching an all-time high and this has been characterised as a ‘silent tsunami’ by the World Health Organization (WHO). India specifically has been identified as a hotspot of emerging antibiotic resistance owing to excessive use to antibiotics in both domestic animals and humans. A careful examination of approaches for countering the multifaceted complex problem of multidrug resistant pathogens is needed, as the rise of antibiotic failure poses a severe threat to global health.
Given this context, the Tata Institute for Genetics and Society, Bengaluru along with National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bengaluru and Alliance for Pathogen Surveillance Innovations India (APSI) and The Rockefeller Foundation are hosting the second edition of a 2-day conference ‘AMR Research Conference 2025 (ARC- 2025)’. This event brings together leading researchers, clinicians, and policy makers to address the critical challenges posed by AMR.
This conference aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, promote the exchange of knowledge, and develop effective policies to combat AMR and to explore innovative ideas and solutions pertaining to diagnostics, therapeutics, surveillance and policy dialogues of AMR via short talks, panel discussions and vibrant poster sessions.
